Why should I take private lessons?

  • Are you an Advanced Electric class (Level 3)?
  • Are you interested in participating in a local, state, or national fencing tournament?
  • Are you interested in fencing on a college team or in earning a fencing scholarship to a college?
  • Do you have a dream of competing as a fencer on the U.S. Olympic team?
  • Would you like to increase your chances of getting into an Ivy League school?

    Several students who studied fencing at FASJ were able to get into an Ivy League school because of their fencing background. If you answered "yes" to any of the above three questions, we recommend you take private lessons.

    How can I benefit from private lessons?
    In a private lesson, which consists of 20 minutes of one-on-one training with an instructor, you will receive detailed instruction on fencing techniques, tactics, and strategy. Each individual lesson will be tailored to your specific needs.

    When can I start private lessons?
    Usually, when you start the Advanced Electric class.

    Must I take a minimum number of private lessons?
    Students usually sign up for a minimun of five lessons.

    How much do five private lessons cost?
    Only $140.

    How do I schedule a private lesson?
    Call Mr. Ma at 856-424-5070.

    What if I must cancel a private lesson?
    Please notify FASJ at least two days before your lesson.

    On what days and times are private lessons given?
    Scheduling is flexible. Please call Mr. Ma to arrange a date and time.
